Annual Carol Singing – Tuesday 9 December at 7pm

The annual carol singing will be held again at the Eagle and Child with accompaniment from Armthorpe Elmfield Brass Band. Refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Eagle and Child.

Festive Lighting Displays

A display of coloured lighting has been provided on the village green and on the existing tree located on Oak Tree Avenue in agreement with the Mulberry Park Management Company. Regrettably following the decision of suppliers to stop erecting the annual non rooted trees and rising costs it has not been possible to source a tree this year, for the Larch Avenue site. A new permanent rooted tree will be planted in 2026 to ensure future lighting displays.

A message of appreciation is extended to Mulberry Park Management Company and South Yorkshire Housing Association for agreeing to use permanently sited trees, thus saving future costs of purchasing annual individual trees.

Community Speed Watch Initiative – Appeal for Volunteers

Three residents within the Finningley Ward have now been trained to operate speed detection equipment but in order for regular operations to be undertaken, there is a need for further volunteers.

If anyone is willing to be trained to work in conjunction with the newly trained operators, please contact the Clerk to the Council who will forward details to enable training to be arranged. This is your opportunity to help address speeding vehicles in the Finningley Ward.

Remembrance Display on the Green

Thank you to members of Auckley Women’s Institute for creating a fitting display for Remembrance Day on the village green and for the post box topper outside of the shops on Ellers Lane. Thank you also to Auckley School for taking the time to visit the display on Armistice Day and display their poems.

Illegal and Inconsiderate Parking on School Lane

The parish council continue to request that Doncaster Council take action on School Lane at school drop off/pick up times to deal with illegal and inconsiderate parking. Residents are asked to report incidents to the police/ Doncaster Council when appropriate.

Reporting of Incidents Around the Parish- Police Drop in Sessions

The parish council has received a small number of concerns relating to possible criminal activity within the parish. Residents are asked to report these directly to the police either online at www.police.uk/pu/contact-us or by telephoning 101. In the event of an emergency taking place, always ring 999.

Any concerns can be discussed directly with the police at local drop in sessions which take place in Branton.

Update on Proposed New Housing Developments in and around Auckley

Decisions relating to proposed developments within the parish and bordering the parish are still pending. The parish council continues to oppose any development between Mosham Road and Hurst Lane due to traffic concerns, drainage matters and that it is a designated settlement break within both the Neighbourhood Plan and Doncaster’s Local Plan.

Overhanging Hedges – Request to Residents

Residents who own hedges adjacent to the pavements are requested to keep then cut back at this time of year to enable pedestrians to utilise the pavements fully.
