New Council

Auckley Parish Council would like to introduce themselves as your councillors for the next four years. Remaining in office are Marjorie Caygill, Ronnie Dobson, Julia Staniforth, Gary Warrender and Jennifer Worthington.

We welcome Neil Slack, Garry Taylor and Catherine Thomson. Julia Staniforth takes on the role of Chairman and Ronnie Dobson, the role of Vice Chair for the coming year and we wish them well in these roles.

Retiring Members

We wish to thank our retiring members who have served the community.

We thank our outgoing Chairman, Stephen Featherstone who has served as a councillor since 2002, Chair since 2022 and prior to that as our Vice Chair. He always sought the best outcome for the parish and we send him best wishes.

We also thank our outgoing Vice Chair, Ian Swainston who has served Auckley Parish Council for 34 years. Over the last year he has regularly taken on the role of Chair, for which we are grateful. In his time on the Parish Council he has served in both roles and offered the council a wealth of knowledge and advice. Best wishes for the future.

Thank you also to Laura Sydney and Diane Wraight, who as members of the Events Working Group have played an important part in the development and operation of the recent VE Day 80 events. Laura was influential in the development of events, having served on the council since 2021. We wish them all the best.

VE Day 80

On Thursday 8th of May Auckley Parish Council joined in with the national commemoration to celebrate VE Day 80. Working in partnership with the 4th Doncaster Scouts, a bonfire was lit at the scout hut, with music from the era provided by Armthorpe Elmfield band. The night culminated with a reading from Rev. Neil Redeyoff and the lighting of the Lamp Light of Peace. Special thanks to Laura Sydney who brought it all together on the night, even providing blankets and gloves. Thank you to everyone who made the night a success.

On Friday 9th of May, we provided a VE Day 80 themed extended coffee morning in partnership with the Auckley Parish Centre. The event was well attended with participants enjoying their tea and cake/sandwiches. Thank you to members of the Parish Centre and the Knit and Natter Group who provided the baked goodies as well as everyone else who provided donations and contributed their time. Thank you to Ian Ashley for piping.

Finally, thank you to the local businesses for advertising both events.

Notice of Councillor Vacancy

Auckley Parish Council would like to notify the local community of a councillor vacancy on the parish council.

If you are interested in this varied role which requires a minimum contribution of attendance at a monthly meeting (except August), please contact the Clerk for further information.
