Parish Councillor Majorie Caygill – RIP

It is with much sadness to report that Marjorie passed away on 9 July 2026 following a period of illness borne with immense fortitude and dignity.

Marjorie’s contribution to the parish council and wider community is immeasurable.

She was Clerk to the Council for over 40 years and on her retirement was co-opted to the council. She also served on the Richard Metcalfe Charity Committee as Secretary, worked at Auckley Surgery and served as a member of Cantley with Branton Parish Council.

Deepest sympathy is extended to her family and many friends. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.

Improvement works on Hayfield Park Completed

Following the receipt of s106 funds from City of Doncaster Council (CDC), the Council are delighted to have been able to deliver new play equipment including swings, see-saw and accessible roundabout, as well as an accessible path network and new fence to ensure the safety of the children using the park. These items were delivered following consultation with the public. The Council hopes that you can see the improvements for your use and enjoyment. Please help to look after the park.

Ellers Lane Parade of Shops works

In the coming months CDC will be undertaking improvement works to the pavements in the vicinity of the shops including the removal of dead trees which will produce a uniform and tidy surface in the area. As part of these works, the Parish Council will install a new noticeboard which the council hopes will be accessible to more residents.

Proposed Additional Seating

After completing the three s106 funded projects on Hayfield Park, there are a small amount of funds left. The Parish Council would like to propose a picnic bench or further seating for the park.

In addition to this, the council may have an opportunity to site a bench outside the parade of shops on Ellers Lane. Please let us know if you have any thoughts on these proposals or any other suggestions. Please contact the Clerk.

Community Litter Picks – Can you help?

A massive thank you to the Rapid Response Team (RRT) for co-ordinating litter picks in the parish over the past months.

Join members of RRT to collect litter from around Auckley. Meet at 10am at the Auckley Parish Centre to collect your equipment. Refreshments will be provided. Upcoming dates: Saturday 12 September and Saturday 7 November.

Invitation to form a new Neighbourhood Plan Working Group

Members of the public are asked to register their interest in joining a working group to help review and amend the Neighbourhood Plan (adopted in Auckley in 2023) in response to any upcoming planning changes implemented by National Government. Please contact the Clerk.

Update on Proposed New Housing Developments in and around Auckley

A decision is expected in early August regarding the application for 34 houses off Hurst Lane.
The Parish Council (along with many residents) has objected to the application for the 50 dwellings on the land on the west side of Main Street on the basis that it does not comply with a number of areas within both the Local and Neighbourhood Plan.

Thank you to the many residents who attended the recent consultation event hosted by Albemarle Homes (relating to land off Hurst Lane) who expressed concerns but also provided helpful information with regard to highway improvements.
