Annual Parish Meeting- Wednesday 11th of March
The Annual Parish Meeting will take place in Auckley Parish Centre on Wednesday the 11th of March at 6.15pm. This is the meeting for residents to discuss any parish issues, raise concerns and hear about the parish council’s work over the past year. All are welcome but only electors may vote.
Parish Council Precept 2026/27
At its January meeting, the parish council determined that the annual precept should rise by just over 5% in order to cover inflationary costs and to plan for future developments. This will mean a band D property will pay £34.08 per annum which is considerably lower than the national average of around £94 p/a and the lowest in the Finningley Ward. The total amount received will be £58,000.
Parish Council Vacancy
Following receipt of a resignation from Joseph Smith and Garry Taylor two vacancies exists. The Parish Council is inviting expressions of interest in the role by Wednesday 4th of March (please contact the Clerk) with the intention to co-opt at the next parish council meeting on Wednesday 11th of March.
A message of appreciation is extended to Joseph and Garry for their period of service and the interest shown in their local community.
Coming Soon – New Play Equipment for Children at Hayfield Park
Following the receipt of s106 funds from City of Doncaster Council (CDC) an order has been placed for a set of swings, a roundabout (disability friendly) and a see-saw to be sited on the grassed area to the rear of the Multi Use Games Area (MUGA). Work is expected to take place immediately after the Easter break and should be completed by the end of April. This will result in areas of the park being unavailable for short periods whilst the work is completed but we hope you will start to see improvements to the park for your use and enjoyment.
PCSO Drop-In Sessions at Auckley Parish Centre- Have Your Say
The local PCSOs have arranged to attend the coffee morning that takes place at the Parish Centre on Friday mornings between 10.00 and 11.30am on the following dates, to enable residents to raise any concerns relating to police matters: 13 March, 17 April, 22 May and 26 June 2026.
Community Speed Watch Initiative- Continued Appeal for Volunteers
Following the completion of training of three volunteers to operate speed detection equipment in order to carry out regular speed check operations, further volunteers are needed.
If anyone is willing to be trained to work in conjunction with the newly trained operators, please contact the Clerk who will forward these details on to enable training to be arranged. This is your opportunity to help address speeding vehicles, in addition to the police camera vans that attend.
Update on Proposed New Housing Developments in and around Auckley
Residents will be aware that the proposed development of over 300 houses off Mosham Road has been refused by CDC’s Planning Authority. The decision has been warmly welcomed although the developer does have the right of appeal to the National Planning Inspectorate. At the time of writing no notification of an appeal has been received.
Approval has been granted for around 1200 houses off Hurst Lane/Bawtry Road which it is felt will have ultimately some impact on the community, however much of the housing falls with the Austerfield parish and therefore the parish council will only receive a small amount of additional income through the precept.
Message of Thanks to Residents
The parish council continues to extend its gratitude to those residents that continue to collect litter and maintain some green spaces thereby improving the appearance of the parish for the benefit of all.
