Parish Council Members

Thank you to all the applicants that expressed an interest in being co-opted to the parish council. The written submissions were of high quality and it was a difficult choice. The parish council welcomed the successful candidate Joe Smith to complete the membership of 9 parish councillors at the June 2025 meeting. Should a future vacancy arise, a further application would be welcomed from any of the unsuccessful candidates.

Keeping Auckley Litter Free

Grateful thanks are extended to those residents that continually carry out litter picks both as formal groups and individuals, as it is pleasing to see the much-improved appearance of the parish.

Refurbishment of the Telephone Box and Improvements to Shop Frontage on Ellers Lane

A red telephone box.

The refurbishment of the telephone box is now complete, with a fresh coat of paint and the fitting of new Perspex windows. The parish council continues to work with Doncaster Council to seek to improve the frontage area at the Ellers Lane shops and it is hoped that further progress will be seen soon.

Riverside Park Trees/Shrubs to the Rear of Properties on Sandhill Rise

Residents of Sandhill Rise have raised concerns in respect of vegetation and trees bordering the rear of their properties. The Council are liaising with those residents to resolve this matter.

On inspection it is noted that an amount of garden waste has been deposited on areas that form part of Riverside Park and residents are requested to refrain from this in order to assist with the clearing of vegetation in this area. This disposal constitutes fly-tipping.

Information Relating to Proposed Housing in and Around Auckley

Many residents continue to express concern and objections to the proposed developments planned within and around the parish.

A decision relating to the proposed development off Mosham Road/Hurst Lane is delayed due to the National Highways Agency issuing a recommendation that J3 of the M18 is upgraded to take account of additional traffic volumes.

It is believed that the large development proposed adjacent to Bawtry Road and Hurst Lane is dependent on the airport reopening and an announcement from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Authority in respect of funding (expected in early September 2025) but may also be affected by highway issue outlined above.

The smaller development off Hurst Lane adjacent to the Yorkshire Way roundabout will be considered by Doncaster Council’s planning committee.

Community Speed Watch

Finningley Ward Councillors met with Parish Councillors and it was agreed they would organise and fund a Community Speed Watch programme, involving volunteer residents of Finningley, Blaxton, Auckley, Branton and Old Cantley.

If you wish to participate in this initiative visit www.communityspeedwatch.org/ and register by joining the Existing Group: Finningley Ward.

You will be asked to complete online training, before practical training.

Auckley Show- Thank you

Once again, the Parish Council would like to thank the Auckley Show Committee for all of their time and effort in delivering the Show. As always it was enjoyed by those that attended.
